Katie and Christopher’s wedding!

I met Katie in early 2017 at a blogging event that I shot. I instantly loved her style and smile. I was even happier to connect with her when I found out she was a thrift/fashion blogger. It’s something that I don’t talk about much here, but I LOVE thrifting. Katie has made a lifestyle of it and has taught me so much about where to go and what to look for. It’s real life treasure hunting, and is so rewarding when you find an awesome dress for $5 that typically retails for $60.

I’m already off topic, but to get myself back on track, I was THRILLED when Katie reached out to me and let me know the love of her life, Christopher, had proposed to her and that they wanted engagement photos. YES! We shot at a gorgeous lavender farm in the Foothills with lush greenery, a pond, and even a canoe ride. They were the cutest engagement photos ever.

We created some awesome imagery and I was so happy when they asked if I was available to shoot their wedding. Not only are Katie and Chris adorable, but kind, creative, and super sweet. I knew this would be a wedding for the books.

I try to keep tabs on my brides in the months between their engagement shoot and wedding. Sometimes it can be a handful of months, and it’s awesome to keep relationships cultivated. When checking in with Katie a few months prior to the wedding, I found out there was an issue with the original wedding venue. This can be stressful when you’ve already spent time and money on a location, but every cloud has a silver lining. Katie and Chris found a new location, The Courtyard D’oro in Old Sacramento… the same place my wife and I got married! :)

How amazing to share a wedding season with one of your brides AND the location as well?

Fast forward to their wedding day. It was a partly cloudy, warm and windy day. I can’t tell you how happy I was to be back at the Courtyard D’oro. Not only did I get to shoot the wedding of an amazing couple, but be back where I had just got married two weeks prior. It was so special, so sweet.

Katie and Chris’s parisian themed wedding was stunning. They got married in front of the lovely Courtyard fountain. It was a small and intimate wedding with just their closest family and friends. Every corner had a sweet detail that reflected them. Stunning roses and hydrangeas, Eiffel towers everywhere, books, and a globe. There was a cake, macarons, cookies, and donuts! Yum. Their guest book was a tribute to the love lock bride in Paris. How sweet is that?

I loved getting to know them and capturing them commit themselves to one another in marriage. How wonderful is it to document two people so in love? I am so lucky that I get to do this for a living, and so thankful for my clients turned friends that I got to share such an amazing experience with.

In case you’re wondering, I tried to shoot at all different locations than where we shot on our wedding day. Only a couple spots overlapped. If anything, I feel it made me more creative with posing and location!!

I’ve babbled on enough. Here are my favorite photos (roughly 10% of their final wedding gallery!), and a glimpse into their lovely wedding day.

Thank you to Katie and Chris most of all. I wish you a lifetime of love and happiness!

Big thanks to all the amazing vendors that made this wedding wonderful.
